Python functions can speed up your script?

This is a very interesting post that I came about today about Python. It Basically talks about how accessing global variables in Python is slower than accessing local variables because of the way they are stored in CPython's internal implementation.

While I don't care about speed bumps of 0.06 seconds in the programs I write, it might be useful for you if you are interested in  competitive programming where runtime matters.
